Hobie 18 Traveler Car

The Hobie 18 has been around for quite some time now, with the first built in the late eighties. Over the past quarter in my MECH 10 class, I worked to redesign one major component of this boat, the mainsheet traveler. I found that the original design used a sliding barring system that, when under normal loads, did not function correctly.

The mk2 design features a quintuple titanium spherical couplers and triple ceramic roller bearings to transfer the load from the mainsheet to the slot in any load state.
